Postmark: Sept. 30, 1915 - New Glasgow, N.S.

This card is identical to PC 00216 (not shown on the website) which has no identifying marks at all. This view is rarely found and shows a fair number of people on the street, although it does not appear that there was anything unusual going on. The more popular postcard of the tram coming up the hill was taken from the same viewpoint.

The card was addressed to Mr. Wilie Adamson of RR2, Scotsburn, Pictou Co., Nova Scotia.

Waldren

This photo was previously thought to have been taken by either Rice or a member of the Torry family, but this postcard with Waldren's logo embossed on it, definitively identifies the photographer as Waldren.

It was mailed by Willie Murray to Miss S.Lawrence, 15 Laval Ave., Montreal, Dominion of Canada.

Photographer: Waldren (see notes with PC 00624 below).
Printer: Unknown Belgian company
Publisher: Torry's Book Store, New Glasgow, NS
Postmark: Oct 18, 1907, New Glasgow, NS

This postcard is direct evidence that the Torry family used Waldren's photos for their postcards. The Waldren Studio was almost directly across the street and the Torry's often used Waldren's for their family photos. West Side Park is located on the right hand side of the road, just after you cross the bridge, heading from downtown New Glasgow toward the "West Side". This park is also known as Carmichael's Terrace or West Side Terrace.

This card was mailed to Miss B. W. L. Eaton, Kingston, King's County, NS. The sender writes "Interested in writing but will send this instead. Hoping you are OK and (2 words illegible) Sunday. Jane(?) L."

Collection ID#: PC 00023
Photographer: Waldren
Printer: Unknown Belgian company
Publisher: Torry's Book Store, New Glasgow, NS
Postmark: Jan 11, 1909, New Glasgow, NS

This card was mailed to Miss Jannette(?) S. Mosley, 39 Race Street, Bristol, Connecticut. The sender dated the card Jan 11, 1909 and wrote "Please exchange scenes with a downeastern. Sincerely, A. Calder Ross, Box 100, Stellarton, Nova Scotia."

This very popular "scene" by Waldren appeared on quite a few postcards by different publishers, over the years. This particular card is called Sinclairs Corner, but this intersection was also known locally as Carmichael's Corner. This view looks down the hill toward the George Street Bridges, and you can see that the streetcar tracks turned a the top of the hill and headed west toward Stellarton and Westville. The Sobeys plaza is now located on the lot to the left of the trees.

The only identifying mark on this postcard is the words The Treeline and the tree logo, just below the words Post Card on the back. To date I have not been able to identify this printer.

This park is known as the West Side Terrace, and it is just to the right of the Bridge, after you cross the bridge from the downtown area.
